When in Rome...

But first some pictures of La Coria, the restored convent that now houses our school.

A view out of one of the windows in a hallway.  I love the colors.

Not only in our school, but all over Trujillo, I've noticed beautiful tile work.  This is one of my favorite rooms in La Coria because of how much light it lets in, the beautiful tile, and these lovely little antique chairs.

The courtyard.

This is the courtyard in the entry way to the main building.  That used to be the front door.

Did we go to Rome?  Not exactly.  But we did go to the city of Merida that has a ton of Roman history.  This was at the Roman museum.

I loved these kind of sculptures.

This was easily my favorite thing at the museum.  I think it's absolutely gorgeous.

I sure love flowers.

The Roman theater where later went to see a play.

Merida was over a hundred degrees that day.  That fan did not leave my hand all day I'm sure.  We were roasting...

The Roman bridge of Merida.

This was at the remains of a Muslim fortress.  Also, about when we were ready to die of heat stroke...

We saw this underground Muslim bath, and it didn't seem like a half bad idea to jump in.  We didn't, which was probably for the best.

I think that we look pretty good despite the fact that we were melting away.

Desperately looking for shade.

The old and the new.

First one at the cafe.

Sangria and homework, a very nice combo.  Also, if you haven't tried sangria blanca you should.  It's sangria with white wine instead of red.  It's delicious, and more refreshing.

I'll leave you with this.  I just realized that I never put it up.  This was in the Dallas airport and I thought it was absolutely hilarious and confusing.  It sure gave me a good laugh.
